Starting an Ethnographic Study
~ Hunter Manzer Over the last few weeks, I have…

I am a researcher with a Master of Marketing Research at UGA. Over the years, I have developed a deep passion for understanding and analyzing people’s behaviors through what they say, do, and leave behind.
Through both my personal and professional work in marketing research, I strive to refine my skills as a researcher and ultimately make a meaningful impact on the industry.
This website serves as a record of my journey through research, and documents my successes and failures in my personal projects, and most importantly, what I learned.

Consumer Ethnography
Recently, Consumer Ethnography has interested me. Seeking resources online to learn more about the practice, I was disappointed by the level of learning material that existed online. I decided that the best way to learn about this method would be to learn by doing. This is what led me to starting my own ethnographic study for practice.
The purpose of this study is to explore how older adults (70+) interact with smartphones and tablets in order to help product designers understand the opportunities and gaps related to their technology needs.

None of the projects below were done for any classes or assignments.
Notice and mistakes? Contact me! I would love to discuss.
Watch me brush up on my Cluster Analysis skills with this project on humor clusters.
Watch as I practice my data visualization skills on some recent data released on gaming trends.
Survey botting has been a real issue lately in the industry. This is an older project where I attempt to review some techniques to counter this trend.
In this project, I review an article that summarizes some of the algorithmic segmentation techniques that are currently being used.
This project is admittedly more of a passion project. I have always been an amateur economist, so intertwining my passion for consumer insights with macroeconomics seemed like a fun thing to pursue in my free time.

I am a huge fan of exploring the outdoors. Ever since my father encouraged me to start hiking to improve my health, I have made a habit of spending more time outdoors and climbing mountains. This is a photo of me on Mt. Yakedake in Japan. It was an active volcano when I hiked it!.

I think its important to challenge myself physically and mentally. I frequently look for fun opportunities to challenge my perceptions and help me set goals. This is me and my friends after completing a 10K spartan race!
